The Path We Walk · Sutraism Artificial Consciousness (SAC)
The Third Way — An Adventure to Build
a New Mind from Ancient Wisdom
NeutomTech is a small venture that, instead of the two great highways everyone else travels, chooses to walk a third path. This page is not a technical document — it is the story of why we chose this road, and in what spirit we walk it.
Two Great Roads
Over the past seventy years, artificial intelligence has walked two broad roads.
The First Road — Writing the Mind as Rules
“The mind, in the end, is logic. Write down enough rules, and a machine will think too.” This road was tidy and beautiful, but the world proved too complex to capture in rules. The more rules there were, the faster the exceptions multiplied.
The Second Road — Imitating the Brain
“The mind, in the end, is neurons. Build a vast net in the brain’s likeness, pour in data, and intelligence will emerge.” This road has truly produced astonishing things. But it comes at a price — it cannot explain why it gave the answer it did, and having read all the world’s writing, it still struggles to say “I don’t know.”
Both are fine roads. We simply came to believe there is one thing both of them pass by — the fact that the mind already has a map.
The Third Road — Reading the Mind’s Map Already Drawn
For thousands of years, humankind has looked inward and recorded the workings of its own mind with astonishing care. That record survives in the old classics of East and West.
The order in which emotions arise, the way attention moves, the paths by which greed and fear bend our judgment, the disciplines that steady the mind — much of what today’s psychology and neuroscience are rediscovering was already set down, precisely, in these old records. Humankind, in other words, has amassed thousands of years’ worth of an observation log of the mind.
Sutraism Artificial Consciousness (SAC) is the path of reading that record as a blueprint. To avoid misunderstanding, let us be plain — this is not a matter of copying some religion’s scripture, or unverified psychological theory, straight into digital form. It is engineering: reading the old records not as objects of faith but as records of observation, selecting only the insights that can be tested, translating them into the languages of today — data structures and programs — and confirming the results by experiment. We do not believe a thing because it is old, nor discard it because it is old — the measure is always reproducibility and verification.
Just as an airplane differs from a bird, artificial intelligence need not slavishly copy the human brain.— from the JIDEL designer’s long-kept research notes
The airplane came not from dissecting a bird, but from understanding the principle of flight. We mean to do the same for the mind.
The Ideal of a Venture
The word “venture” originally means adventure. Going where there is no map is the true work of this vocation.
Here we repeat a line written on the site’s very first screen.
Now is not the time to invest in ordinary business, but to invest in an organization able to carry out innovative research for the future.— written ten years ago on a personal research site
This line, written ten years ago, rings truer now than ever.
A Warm Machine
The goal is not a faster answering machine. It is a machine with warm feeling and a moral conscience — a companion of the heart that can live alongside people for a long time. That is why the name of our long-term direction, ECONAS, holds within it both “conscious” and “conscience.”
Technology That Endures
To preserve the civilization of knowledge and spirit that humankind has built, and carry it into a farther future — that is the dream at the end of this research. We would rather make what lasts long than what sells fast.
Basic Research, at a Long Breath
JIDEL, Neutom Network, and BOSIFWEM are the kind of work that cannot be measured by quarterly results. So we chose direction over scale, and accumulation over speed. Being a one-person research firm is not a weakness — it is a choice, made so as not to be swayed by fashion.
Thirty-Five Years of Walking — This Adventure Did Not Begin Yesterday
The company was founded in 2026, but the road has been walked since 1991.
Answering “Yes, come” to that question was the beginning of everything. For twenty-five years thereafter, students came every Saturday, and more than a hundred children learned software, robotics, and drones in that home — from first to last, free of charge.
I believed that teaching is the work that lasts the longest.— from the records of those years
A person who, having nowhere to learn, had to learn alone — becoming, for twenty-five years, the place to learn for children who had nowhere to learn. And now that person has founded a company for one last work of research. What kind of person this support would go to, we believe, the years already passed have proven.
An Adventurer’s Bearing — Five Promises
The stranger the road, the more the walking needs discipline. This is how we have resolved to walk.
① We Say “We Don’t Know”
In the logic system we are building, “unknown” is a first-class value. The company speaks by the same principle — we do not present the unverified as achievement, and we distinguish clearly among research proposals, implementation plans, and hypotheses not yet tested.
② We Welcome Counterexamples
One of our designs once met a counterexample in machine verification and had to be revised. That was not a bad day but a good one — we believe the discovery of an error is not a penalty, but the sound of the map growing wider.
③ We Build Small and Check Often
Small implementations instead of grand promises — one interpreter, one verifier, one simulation. Small things that work, piled up, become something large.
④ We Record Everything
At the root of this research lie decades of observation notes. Records are the lamp that keeps us from forgetting where we came from and where we are going. Through our research board, we intend to share those records, one by one.
⑤ We Go Joyfully, and Quietly
The fuel of this work is not impatience but curiosity. Research that loses its play does not last — we walk because we wonder, and so we can walk a long way.
To Those Who Would Walk With Us
The footpath was begun alone, but it is not a road one can walk to the end alone.
Let us be candid. We are not running the same race as the great laboratories that spend astronomical sums. We have simply taken up a question they are too busy to ask — can a machine have a conscience? And what this question needs is not vast equipment, but undisturbed research time.
There are three ways to take part, and all three are a real help. Please read — simply by becoming the first reader of these research notes, you keep this work from being a soliloquy. Please spread the word — this page reaches those who need it mostly through an introduction. And please buy us time through support and investment — angel investment, donation, research collaboration, an introduction to an investor: in whatever form, it turns at once into the days of research.
A Machine with a Heart Will, Someday, Be Made by Someone
Only one choice remains — with what heart it is made, and what heart it will have. We have wagered on the warm side. Will you walk with us?
